Distributing power around your MFOS or YuSynth modular synth is now easier thanks to these power distribution PCBs. Each PCB is 235 x 35mm and can have up to 7 3-pin sockets (1251-054) soldered in. One socket is used as power in and the other 6 for power out. Each power out socket is spaced at around 1U (1.75") and thus covers 6U of panels. It is possible to fit four of these side by side in our 22U wide modular synth cabinets so plenty of sockets even if every synth module was only 1U wide.
The PCB is supplied without connectors but as the connectors are very low cost, it makes sense to fully populate the distribution PCB but you don't have especially if your module arrangement is unlikley to change.
Getting power to the distribution boards is best done by running two power cables from the incoming cabinet power supply connector (7212-322). Each cable is then wired to a pair of power plugs (1251-023) piggy backed so as to power a pair of distribution PCBs. We do no recommend wiring all of the boards in series due to voltage drop and increased noise.
When soldering in the power sockets (1251-054), ensure they are correctly orientated as indicated by the curved lines that match the connector moulding. The PCB has 10 fixing down holes and we suggest using 3mm high spacers (7212-183) between the PCB and the cabinet base with No.4 x 3/8" screws.
Note: PCBs now supplied in colour blue rather than the original red.
